- Why was the Ascend Food app developed? -

Our bodys fuel is food and drink. While it will always be a basic necessity, the modern worlds relationship with food has evolved. Its social, meaningful and delicious.

- What is Ascend Food? -

Ascend is the very first food-focused social platform that allows users to add geo-tags to their posts, which are then pinned to a satellite image of the world. At the swipe of a finger, find an authentic Lasagna recipe from the region of Emilia-Romagna, where it transformed from a poor man’s food to a rich meal filled with ragù, or meat sauce.   Or, search the local pubs to find who has your favorite seasonal ale paired with fall-off-the-bone chicken wings.

Ascend combines the joys of food and travel through our geo-tags. There is no cost of a plane ticket on this virtual tasting! Once you find something that appeals to, or intrigues, your taste buds, just swipe right to "like" and that item is now saved to your personal recipe rolodex (it is now one of your "discoveries"). 

-What can I discover? -

There are 4 types of food and drink discoveries to be made:

Recipes - A post which is created by a user and offers a list of ingredients and instructions for preparation and cooking. (I.e., Grandmas cookies)

2) Restaurants - A post which consists of a prepared food or drink item that can be purchased at a restaurant. (I.e., Outback Steakhouses Center Cut Filet)

3) Branded Items - A post which consists of a packaged item that can be purchased at an online or retail store. (I.e., 16oz Bag of Doritos)

4) Meal Kits - A delivered package which consists of all the ingredients for preparing the meal you ordered.

Importantly, you also have the ability to post only a picture and caption. This is an ideal feature for an individual just looking to share whats on their plate or in their cup.

- Grocery shopping made easy –

Ascend provides users with a seamless experience to meal planning and shopping. First, simply browse for a new or past discovery. Second, select which day you would like to have that item and add it to your cart. Thats it!

Ascends intelligent meal planner scans the recipes to form a concise shopping list with the exact quantity you will need to cover your ingredient needs across all of your selections! 

- Enhancing transparency through analytics -

Throughout your life, how many times have you heard the saying "you are what you eat"? But, throughout your life, how many times have you actually had access to a detailed record of your consumption and transparency into what you are, by result? Ascend will bridge this gap through a direct connection into the U.S. Department of Agricultures "FoodData Central" database. This allows us to confidently, and accurately, estimate the nutritional content of your diet based on the latest U.S. Government studies and glean connections between consumption and health on a scale which was previously not possible to do. Our mission is to develop insights which allows individuals, and their loved ones, to live longer, better feeling, and healthier lives.
